Effective classroom management and instruction requires teachers to master many concepts.  Some of the concepts the course will cover include: mindset & motivation,  “learning to learn” skills, classroom procedures and routines,  Ohio school law,  parent involvement and curriculum alignment. ED595M Mindset, Brain and Education

                        June 11 – 14            8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

This course is a foundational investigation of the relationship between psychology, neuroscience and pedagogy. We will identify current evidence based ideas associated with improving instruction with emphasizes on Carol Dweck’s Mindset research.  This course will enhance participant’s professional and personal growth. Instructor:  Sandra Weaver

 

ED594T Teaching Students from Poverty K-12   

         June 11 – 14           8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

A course designed for K-12 educators with emphasis on understanding the effect of poverty on school age children. Participants will learn how to develop and use strategies to recognize and reach impoverished students. Instructor: Darryl Innocenzi

 

ED595G Utilizing Google to Teach and Learn

Learn how to improve your Google knowledge and skills.  This class will cover Google topics including Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Documents, Sheets, Forms, Slides, Drawings, Sites, Chrome, and more.  Google will help find, organize and create meaningful assignments and lessons. Instructor: Chris Radtke

 

ED595D Google in the Digital Classroom

Section I       June 11 – 14           8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. OR

This is a course designed to expose teachers to trending technologies that will support and enhance classroom instruction.The course will focus on the learning management system of Google Classroom with connected applications, add-ons and extensions plus a variety of interactive websites and online assessment tools.  Instructor: Laura Sandy

 

ED594R Content Literacy K-12   

         June 11 – 14           8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Designed for all content areas K- 12, participants will create activities that support literacy and enhance content understanding through improving the skills of reading, writing, listening, speaking, viewing, and thinking.  Topics include building content vocabulary, reading informational text, annotating and summarizing text, writing to process learning, and group discussions. Instructor: Don Mastrobuono

 

ED595B Improving Instruction with Mind, Brain and Education Science: What We Know To Be True

                  June 25 – 28                    8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

How does the brain learn and how can we teach in order to develop the full potential of students?  What teaching activities, methods and strategies nurture the brain’s natural way of learning?  This course emphasizes the basic principles, tenets and instructional guidelines associated with mind, brain and education.  Instructor:  Dr. Craig Weaver

 

ED584Q Understanding Childhood Disorders in the K-12 Inclusive Classroom

June 25 – 28           8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

With so many different types of students "included" into the regular education classroom, teachers need to have a deep understanding of different types of childhood disorders. Participants will gain knowledge of effective educational techniques and strategies related to successful inclusion of students with disabilities. Instructor:  Sandra Weaver

 

ED594E Ethics and Principles of Teacher Leadership

                        June 25 – 28           8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The course will focus on the variables associated with developing a professional educator who can bring a full toolbox of resources to the workplace to help all students reach their full potential. Through discussion, case studies and analysis of theory and practice, participants will become better equipped to address school-based problems and issues. This course meets the requirement for the Ohio Teacher Leader Endorsement. Instructor:  Dr. Craig Weaver/Sandra Weaver

 

ED595A Crucial Elements of the Assessment Process

                        June 25 – 28           8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

This course examines current K-12 assessment and evaluation issues and practices.  The latest research on grading and rubrics will also be explored. Instructor: Darryl Innocenzi

 

ED594A Art of Asking Questions and Facilitating Class Discussion in the Content Areas

                                    June 25 – 28            8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

This course is designed to provide teachers with the tools to motivate learners through questioning and the development of thoughtful questions to lead stimulating classroom discussions. Participants will also practice creating quality questions for teacher created assessments. Instructor:  Don Mastrobuono

Tuition           3 graduate semester hours = $465.00
